There’s something rather special about arriving at Cefn Tilla Court for a wedding. Tucked away in the Monmouthshire countryside near Usk, the estate combines the character of a historic country house with beautifully landscaped grounds and a relaxed, exclusive-use feel.
I recently had the pleasure of filming Jess & Callum’s wedding at Cefn Tilla Court in July 2026, and it was exactly the kind of setting that lends itself to natural, story-led wedding films.
From the approach to the house and the historic interiors to the gardens, ornamental lily pond and open countryside beyond, Cefn Tilla gives you a huge variety of locations without ever losing that intimate country-estate atmosphere.
As a wedding videographer, that combination is particularly valuable. There are plenty of opportunities to create beautiful cinematic images, but the setting never needs to become the focus of the day. Instead, it provides a backdrop for the people, moments and atmosphere that make your wedding yours.

For a wedding film, spaces like this are ideal because they already have so much visual character. There is no need to manufacture a cinematic look - the room does much of the work for us.

One of the biggest strengths of Cefn Tilla is the amount of outdoor space available.
The estate has landscaped gardens, sweeping lawns and its ornamental lily pond, with the historic manor house providing a striking backdrop. The Lily Pond Terrace can also be used for outdoor ceremonies and drinks receptions.
This gives me plenty of opportunities to capture the day as it naturally unfolds.
Rather than pulling you away from your guests for long periods, I prefer to work with what is already happening - walking through the gardens, talking with friends and family, enjoying the drinks reception, and capture those moments as they happen.
3. Natural Couple Footage Around the Estate
Cefn Tilla is particularly well suited to couples who don't want their wedding film to feel heavily staged.
The grounds give us plenty of opportunities for relaxed footage without requiring an elaborate photoshoot. A short walk through the gardens or a few quiet minutes together can be enough to create something cinematic while still feeling completely natural.
These are often some of the most valuable moments in the finished film because they don't feel like they were created for the camera.
4. The Evening Reception
Once the day moves into the evening, the atmosphere changes again.
The reception space provides a contrast to the historic house and gardens, allowing the film to move naturally from the quieter moments of the ceremony and drinks reception into speeches, laughter, dancing and the energy of the evening.
My approach remains the same throughout: stay close enough to capture the important moments properly, but far enough away that you're able to forget the cameras are there.

Filming Jess & Callum's wedding on 18th July 2026 gave me the opportunity to experience Cefn Tilla Court exactly as it should be: full of movement, atmosphere, laughter and those small moments that are easy to miss when you're caught up in the day yourself.
From the preparations and ceremony through to the celebrations later in the evening, the estate provided a fantastic variety of backdrops while still allowing the wedding itself to remain the centre of the story.
That's what I particularly enjoy about filming weddings at Cefn Tilla.
The setting is impressive, but it never overwhelms the people within it.

Absolutely. Good communication between the photographer and videographer is particularly important during the ceremony, couple portraits and key moments. My aim is always to work alongside the photographer rather than compete for the same space.

Yes. The estate offers on-site accommodation, including holiday lets and the bridal suite, with further accommodation available nearby. The venue's current information states that its on-site accommodation can sleep a substantial number of wedding guests.
How far in advance should we book a wedding videographer?
For popular summer dates, I generally recommend booking 12–24 months in advance. Availability can be more limited for Saturdays during the peak wedding season.
